Volunteer opportunity description

A Reading Terminal Market Ambassador will function as an extension of the overall Market experience. Ambassadors will spend all of their time on the Market floor amongst the merchants, management team and customers. It is an opportunity to gain and refine your customer service skills through one of Philadelphia’s most dynamic and diverse public spaces. The Reading Terminal Market is home to 80 small, mostly family owned businesses. It has become Philadelphia’s most visited site, among locals and tourists alike, attracting over 6.5 million visitors in 2016. It also remains a primary grocery shopping destination for thousands of customers. Shifts will be focused on helping customers navigate the Market floor, providing a basic level of customer service throughout the shift (example: answering frequently asked questions) and collecting customer data.

Ambassadors will participate in two 60-minute training sessions at the Market to learn some background information and some tools for navigating the floor and interacting with our customer base before assuming their position. A minimum commitment of 20 volunteer hours is required, and ambassadors are welcome to take on more hours if they remain in good standing with the Market.
